Adam Lambert's 'Time for Miracles' Video Premieres

American Idol runner-up walks through apocalyptic '2012' scenes, singing of lost love.

While Adam Lambert is still in the studio completing his major-label debut, For Your Entertainment, out on November 23, his music video for "Time for Miracles" premiered on MySpace on Wednesday morning (October 21). The song, produced by Rob Cavallo, is for the apocalyptic flick "2012," which hits theaters on November 13.

In the video, Lambert dons his best Goth clothes and anguished face as he makes his way through disaster scene after disaster scene, as everyone else around flees falling buildings and debris raining down from a fiery sky. Despite the fact that the world is coming to an end around him, Lambert looks triumphantly straight into the camera and sings about not giving up on a lost love.

Scenes of Lambert mugging for the camera and belting out the midtempo power ballad are intercut with clips from the John Cusack film. Toward the end of the song, the "American Idol" runner-up begins to show off his signature range and turn up the volume as he stands on top of a building.

The track itself, which was written by Alain Johannes and the late Natasha Shneider, found its way online earlier this week after it was released in Europe. It became officially available for purchase on Amazon and iTunes in the U.S. on Wednesday.

Lambert told MTV News that Cavallo "pushed me to the limit" of his vocal range for "Time for Miracles, but he and his label have maintained that the power ballad is not representative of the songs on his album.

Adam Lambert Revives Tradition of making Music Videos to Promote Movies

Everyone knows by now that Adam Lambert has shot a video for his new song, "Time For Miracles". But everyone might not realize Adam is revitalizing the tradition of using the music video to promote a movie.

Music videos started out as a cheap way to promote movies in the late 1970's and 1980's. Most of them simply showed clips from the films over the music, like the Bee Gees in Saturday Night Fever.

Remember the videos for classics like St. Elmo's Fire ("St. Elmo's Fire"), The Breakfast Club ("Don't You"), Ghostbusters ("Ghostbusters") , Flashdance ("Maniac"), and Footloose ("Footloose")?

Anyone??? Bueller???

Madonna was an early pioneer in this use of the music video to promote movies. Her voice or image (or both) were featured in music videos for Vision Quest ("Crazy For You"), Desperately Seeking Susan ("Into The Groove"), Who's That Girl ("Who's That Girl"), and Dick Tracy ("Vogue"), among others.

Using music videos to promote movies fell out of favor over the past couple of decades, mainly due to MTV's transformation from music video television to reality television. Plus, audiences demanded high-quality (and expensive) music videos from artists, not just cheap edits of film clips to the tune of the song that plays over the closing credits of movies. Now most everyone watches music videos on YouTube, not on MTV or Friday Night Videos.

Since Adam has been in the studio shooting the video for "Time For Miracles" over the past week, it's a good sign he will likely be the main attraction, not just clips from the movie. It's been a while since a musician has been used to drive a movie. In fact, this may be the first time an openly gay musician has been used to promote a blockbuster movie. Quite an accomplishment if you think about it.

In case you don't know yet, the movie is about the end of the world on 12/21/12 as predicted by the ancient Mayans. The special effects look extraordinary, if over-the-top. The movie is set for a November 13th release date in the United States.

Adam Lambert's "Time for Miracles" Video to debut before "This Is It"

In addition to putting the finishing touches on his major-label debut and announcing the nominees for the 2009 American Music Awards, where he will be performing, Adam Lambert just finished shooting the music video for "Time for Miracles," a song recorded for the upcoming end-of-the-world blockbuster "2012."

"[The video] was really performance-driven. It was really about the lyric content and the emotional guts of the song," Lambert told MTV News on Tuesday (October 13) in Los Angeles.

But given that the tune is being used in a Roland Emmerich-helmed disaster flick, fans should expect a doomsday element to the clip as well. "There were a ton of extras on the set. What they were doing is they were staging scenes reminiscent of what happens in '2012,' " Lambert said.

Specifically, the "American Idol" rocker pointed to one sequence in the video where he sings calmly while chaos surrounds him. "I'm just walking through looking straight at the camera singing the song, and there's a riot going on around me — people being tossed in front of me, looting, you know, people being arrested," Lambert described. "That was pretty wild, to try to stay focused on the song while that was happening. But we had fun. It was a good day."

Recording the song was perhaps more of a challenge. Lambert explained that working with producer Rob Cavallo on the power ballad was fairly intense. "[He] pushed me to the limit," Lambert said. "I sang for my life. It was quite a day of recording, but it turned out great." Cavallo and Lambert went on to work together on several tracks that might end up on Lambert's CD come November 24. (Cavallo spilled three song titles to Yahoo! Music on Tuesday, including "Suburban Decay," "Winners" and "Music Again.")

A small snippet of "Time for Miracles" leaked late last week, but Lambert told us to expect the full song later this week. "I believe on the 18th [Saturday], 'Time for Miracles' will be released. ... I'm really happy about it."

Lambert is especially happy about where fans will be able to see the "Time for Miracles" video: the big screen. "The '2012' trailer will be premiering at the Michael Jackson film," Lambert revealed to MTV News, referring to a special trailer that will run before the upcoming documentary "Michael Jackson's This Is It."

Adam Lambert has been busy shooting the music video for "Time for Miracles," song in the upcoming movie 2012's soundtrack.

As usual, the American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has been staying busy. How could he not, considering his new album, already a smash hit in pre-orders , is scheduled to come out on November 24th? He recently tweeted about going to the studio to work with Linda Perry, one in the long and impressive list of music industry figures involved in his debut album, which also includes Max Martin, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder - who has also worked with Kelly Clarkson and Beyoncé - and Lady Gaga's producer RedOne.

Furthermore, the album is not the only thing on Adam Lambert's plate. As is known, he has a song coming out in the soundtrack for the upcoming movie 2012, one about which Queen guitarist Brian May only had good things to say after getting a chance to hear it while hanging out with producer Rob Cavallo: "I have to say I was completely blown away ... it's truly sensational. In fact it's so obviously a number one smash, any bookie would be mad to take bets on it. I am not kidding. I'm not easily moved to jelly by male vocalists ... but Adam's voice reaches out with sensitivity, depth, maturity, and awesome range and power which will make jaws drop all around the world. The song, titled "Time for Miracles," is now giving fans something to look at (not that listening to the American Idol runner up was not enough for them, but still). According to one of Adam Lambert's most recent posts on Twitter, there is a video on the way. On October 3rd, he tweeted, "Shooting Time For Miracles Music Video!!!! Long day, but we are getting amazing footage!"

Again, Adam Lambert is certainly more than busy lately. But he is living the dream he always worked for, after all, so it might be safe to say he would not want to be doing anything else.

Adam Lambert Swears he's no American Idol Puppet

Adam Lambert is like a modern-day Braveheart.

American Idol and 19 Entertainment may be putting out his debut album, but they're not taking his creative freedom—or so he claims.

"I think there's a little bit of a misconception out in the public that people that come out of American Idol are puppetted and kind of controlled," he tells E! News exclusively. "That hasn't been my experience one bit. They've been completely supportive and collaborative with me and all the powers that be are really trying to facilitate my artistic vision."

In addition to working with A-list producers RedOne (Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning"), Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera's "Keeps Getting' Better") and Ryan Tedder (the man behind the controversial Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson tracks), Lambert is writing some of his own stuff.

"For a handful of these songs, I've gotten to write on them," he says. "So I really feel I've gotten to inject a lot of this music on the album with my own personal vocal stylings and my own lyrical content. A lot of it talks about stuff I really care about and that I find interesting, so that feels really good."

In addition to his excitement about his album's debut on Nov. 24, Lambert can't wait to see Ellen DeGeneres take a on a certain verbose judge come January…

"I can't wait to see her banter with Simon Cowell," the season-eight runner-up admits. "I think she'll give him a hard time. I hope she does."

While the funnylady doesn't have the music industry chops of Paula Abdul or the rest of the panel, the former contestant believes she'll bring the "everyman's perspective" to the judging table.

"She's obviously a fan of the show, and she's been in the entertainment industry for a long time, so, strictly from an entertainment aspect, I think she'll provide a lot of great insight and really speak for the people that watch the show that aren't all that well versed in the music industry and in music," he explains. "I think it's good in that regard."

Adam Lambert New Song "Time For Miracles"

The title of the new Adam Lambert song from the 2012 soundtrack has been uncovered on a new version of the 2012 movie poster. The track will be called "Time For Miracles" and should mark the official post-American Idol recording debut of Adam Lambert.

The Rolland Emmerich disaster flick is scheduled to be released on November 13. Traditionally, the movie industry releases the main song prior to the release of the film to help add excitement and momentum to a movie's release. 2012 should be no different, so fans should be able to expect Time For Miracles to be released sometime in mid-to-late October, although no official information is available at this point.

When discussing Time For Miracles at a recent Twitter party, Lambert said the song is a classic rock ballad styled track that will be very catchy. We're betting that the song will sound like a cross between I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith (from Armageddon) and Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen (from Highlander). Lambert did not say if the 2012 song will be included on his debut CD, which is also scheduled for release in November (Nov. 24 to be exact).

From a music business perspective, if Time For Miracles does get released in advance to promote the movie, it should also be on the Adam Lambert debut, because they won't want to have two Adam Lambert songs on the radio at the same time. It would only confuse average CD buyers who want to buy the CD because they heard the song on the air.

Typically, when a new CD is released, a track will be sent to radio up to a month in advance to build up hype for the album's release. The movie business does the same thing, so with a movie song and a new album coming out in November, fans can be pretty much guaranteed that either Time For Miracles will be the first single, or a totally different track will be released. Whatever the case may be, expect something to be released in October.
